In 1565 Pedro Menendez de Aviles comes ashore at Mission Nombre de Dios to proclaim the land for God and for Spain. The first ever parish mass in the United States is celebrated. Site of America's first Marian Shrine, dedicated to Our Lady of La Leche, and the Great Cross which stands nearly 208 feet tall overlooking the city of St. Augustine. Visitors come from all over the world to take in the rich Spanish and Catholic Christian history, the natural landscape and for time away for personal meditation. Mission Museum and Shrine Gift Shop
